ACADEMIC STAFF

The university wishes to recruit Qualified persons to fill the following vacant positions in the School of Business and Economics, School of Nursing, School of Clinical Medicine, Medical School, School of Pharmacy, School of Law, School of Education, School of Social Sciences, School of Pure and Applied Sciences, School of Public Health, School of Health Sciences, School of Engineering, Energy and The Built Environment and School of Hospitality, Travel and Tourism Management and School of Post-Graduate Studies.

  • PROFESSORS.
  • ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS.
  • SENIOR LECTURERS/ SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS.
  • LECTURERS/RESEARCH FELLOWS.
  • TUTORIAL FELLOWS/JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS.
  • ADJUNCT ACADEMIC STAFF.
  • VISITING ACADEMIC STAFF.
  1. PROFESSORS

Must have:

  •  A PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from accredited and recognized University
  • At least three (3) years teaching experience as an Associate Professor or equivalent and research experience
  • Registered with the relevant  professional body(where applicable); and
  • Attracted research or development funds as an Associate Professor or equivalent.
  1. ASSOCIATE PROFESSORS

Must have:

  1. Earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification( or Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  2. At least three(3) years of teaching experience at the University level as a lecturer or six(6) years research/industry experience
  3. Attracted research or development funds as a Senior Lecturer/Senior Research Fellow
  4. Registered with the relevant professional body(where applicable)

3.SENIOR LECTURERS/ SENIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS

Must have

a) An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification (or a Master’s degree qualification in special cases) in the relevant field area from recognized/accredited university;

b) At least three (3) years of teaching/research experience at the university level as a Lecturer or 6(six) years research/industry experience

c) Been registered by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).

4.LECTURERS/RESEARCH FELLOWS

Must have

  1. An earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University; and be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body(where applicable); OR
  2. A Master’s degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university(in special cases) with at least three(3) years teaching experience at University level or in a research or in an industry; and
  3. Registered with the relevant professional body(where applicable)

b) At least four (4) years teaching experience at university level

d) Been registered by the relevant Professional Body (where applicable).

5.TUTORIAL FELLOWS/JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWS

Must have:

a) Have a Bachelors degree and a Master’s degree qualification from recognized/accredited university in the relevant field.

b) Be registerable for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or equivalent Doctoral degree qualification; and

c) Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable)

6.ADJUNCT ACADEMIC STAFF

Job description

To support and strengthen Mount Kenya University teaching, research, collaboration, practical training, linkages and promote their relevance.

Required Qualifications

  1. Holder of earned Doctorate or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university:
  2. Relevant industry experience, drawn from the public s/ private sector both locally and internationally;

OR

  1. A Master’s Degree in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university, with at least two (2) years relevant industry experience.
  2. To be appointed to cover short-term faculty vacancies

7.VISITING ACADEMIC STAFF

Job description:

To support and strengthen Mount Kenya University teaching, research and collaborations

Required Qualifications

  1. Earned PhD or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University
  2. Relevant industry experience drawn from local and foreign universities.

NOTE

Successful candidate(s) will join Mount Kenya University with the title(s) they hold from their parent institutions.

Appointment will be for twelve (12) months or a period of consecutive service not exceeding two (2) years.

NOTE

All applicants for the above positions MUST meet the minimum qualifications as set out by the Commission for University Education in Kenya.
