  1. Easily accessible Location 

Mount Kenya University is a multi-campus University with its’ main campus in Thika and other campuses in Nairobi, Parklands Law campus, Mombasa, Nakuru, Eldoret , Meru and ODEL centres in Malindi, Kisumu, Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Kericho , Embu and Machakos. The University has information/support centres in Isiolo and Nyeri and country offices in Uganda, Hargeisa-Somaliland, Burundi and Garowe-Puntland. All our campuses are well connected by roads hence they are accessible by vehicles, motorbikes, and bicycles. 

Our campuses are conveniently located within major towns for easy access to our facilities and key government services.

  1. Accessible education 

Mount Kenya University offers over 164 accredited courses, which are recognized by various regulatory bodies.  The University offers Sixty-Five (65) courses online through the Open Distance and Electronic Learning (ODEL) where students can access course materials and assessments online. The students also have an option of either sitting in for their exams or tackle them online through MKU e-Learning system. This enhances accessibility to education. 

The University allows fees to be paid in instalments as follows: 40% upon registration, 20% second instalment, 20% third instalment and 20% fourth instalment. This flexibility allows students to study as their guardians pay the affordable fees.

  1. Well accessible infrastructure

The University premises are well designed for easy and safe accessibility by all people including persons with disabilities. The University lecture halls and administration block are fitted with lifts, ramps, and user-friendly staircases. 

The University has constructed a bridge to allow students to safely cross the general Kago road to access different amenities located on either side at Main campus, Thika.

The University library has a section for learners with disabilities and study villas located in serene areas allowing students to hold academic discussions outside the library. The library has e-resources, which learners can access at 24/7 even after the library is closed at 9:00PM.

The University has on- campus accommodation for both ladies and men located in separate areas equipped with CCTV cameras , WI-FI services, and laundry services.

The University has an on-campus bookshop where students can purchase books , stationeries, and branded gift items

  1. Dedicated customer care

The University has dedicated customer care officers in all campuses for effective service delivery. All our campuses have a front office to offer services to clients.

  1. Transport services

The University owns fleets of vehicles in all its campuses and ODEL Centres which are used by students and staff attending different academic trips, practical field activities, research, co-curricular activities such as sports, drama and music festivals, and community services.

  1.  Accessibility to sports amenities 

The University has different indoor and outdoor sports , creative and performing arts facilities. These amenities are open all the time and have different wardens to enhance safety and access to them such as the swimming pool, indoor games, basketball court, skating areas, outdoor games fields, and auditorium.

  1. Accessible health services

Mount Kenya University campuses have health centres to offer medical health services to students. The facilities also provide counselling and mental health services as well as holding occasional events to create health -related awareness to students to promote preventive health such as nutrition and diets and personal health.

The health centres work in collaboration with government and private hospitals for referral cases and for joint activities such as blood donation drives.

The University has an ambulance, which helps in emergency cases.

  1. Accessibility to security services 

The University gates have biometric access control system. Visitors are managed through a visitor’s management system and all persons gaining entry to the university go throughan efficient security screening process.

Mount Kenya University also has patrol vehicles, which enhance security surveillance in the areas surrounding the university and outside campus hostels. The university is also near Thika industrial police post. 

  1. Accessible religious activities

The University has an active chaplaincy department under students’ welfare division which oversees the spiritual growth of the students. All our campuses have designated worship areas for the various religious groups such as Muslims and Christians
