Mount Kenya University (MKU) has partnered with UNESCO and the University of Nairobi (UoN) to implement a project dubbed “Our Lives, Our Rights, Our Future (O3 Plus)”.
The project officially commenced on September, 30, 2021. Its goal is to provide support to students in Higher Education and Tertiary Institutions (HTEIs) to overcome challenges that may interfere with their studies. The support is given either through virtual or face-to-face capacity building sessions.
O3 Plus project focuses on reduction of new HIV infections through positive reproductive health practices, prevention of unintended pregnancies, sexual and gender based violence, drug abuse and mental health challenges among HTEIs students. MKU and UoN are honored to have been selected to implement the project activities on a pilot basis.
The O3 Plus objectives are being achieved through a number of activities. These include O3 Plus awareness campaigns, identification and recognition of O3 Plus Champions, Podcast development as well as a major sensitization walk in Thika town.
In this regard, MKU welcomes you to a high profile five-kilometer walk that will involve key strategic partners, UoN and MKU student representatives, UNESCO, staff and management representatives of both universities, selected members of the local community, and key local administrators.
The walk has been scheduled to take place on Friday 11th February, 2022 in Thika Town. All interested are invited to participate. A closing ceremony will be held at the Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre at MKU, Thika Campus.
