Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre View mapThe Chancellor, Mount Kenya University, Prof John Struthers on behalf of the University Council, Management Board and Senate, wishes to inform all our esteemed graduands who have qualified for conferment of degree and various University Awards, that the 20th Graduation ceremony will be held virtually on Friday, 10th December, 2021.
All prospective graduands should note the following:
- VIRTUAL GRADUATION DATE:
In compliance with the COVID-19 containment and preventive measures and the guidelines by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health, the graduation ceremony will be held virtually on Friday, 10th December, 2021 at 9.00 a.m.
- VENUE
The ceremony will be aired live on TV47 live from Mwai Kibaki Convention Centre, Main
Campus Thika.
- CEREMONY
The graduation ceremony will be presided over by the University Chancellor, Prof. John Struthers who will award Diplomas and Certificates and confer Degrees.
- CHIEF GUEST
The chief guest will be Amb. Simon Nabukwesi, Principal Secretary for University Education and Research, Ministry of Education, Kenya
4. REGISTRATION FOR GRADUATION
The list of prospective graduands has been posted on the University website ( click here to view it). Any potential graduand whose name is not on the list to immediately notify the respective school through emails posted on the University website.
Online clearance for graduation should be done through the University Management Information System on the Link https://studentportal.mku.ac.ke
Graduands appearing on the University website are required to have cleared financially with the University by 5th November, 2021 for their names to be included in the graduation booklet.
5. VERIFICATION OF ACADEMIC RECORDS AND ORDERS OF NAMES
All graduands are requested to verify their names by 5th November, 2021. Any requests for changes in spellings and orders of names should be done within this period at the respective campus admissions office. Any request for change of name must be supported by the relevant academic document(s).
6. REHEARSAL
All graduands intending to participate in the ceremony will attend the online rehearsal on 9th December, 2021 at 9.00 a.m.
7. GRADUATION GOWNS
Graduands are expected to be in full graduation attire for both the rehearsal and graduation ceremonies. The graduation gowns will be hired from Monday, 29th November 2021 to Wednesday, 8th December 2021. The gowns will be collected from the respective Deans of Schools at the Main Campus, Thika and from the Examination’s Offices in the respective campuses during office hours.
The hired graduation gowns must be returned on or before Monday 3rd January, 2022. Any delay in returning the gown will attract a daily charge of Ksh 500.
COLLECTION OF CERTIFICATES
The University congratulates all the graduates who have been successfully conferred degrees and awarded diploma and certificates during the past University graduation ceremonies. The graduates are notified that they are expected to collect their certificates within a period of one year after graduation. Certificates not collected for subsequent years after graduation attracts an annual storage fee of Ksh. 1,200.
