CALL FOR INNOVATION FOR UNIVERSITY CLEANTECH INNOVATORS
The Clean Energy Bootcamp brings together university students and members of staff from four universities in Uganda (Makerere University Business School), Kenya (Mount Kenya University & Kenyatta University), and Germany (Albert-Ludwigs-Universität) to collaborate in workshops to further develop their Clean Energy innovations.
At the Bootcamp in Nairobi you will have the opportunity to further develop and sharpen your innovative idea in discussion with other innovators and entrepreneurs. During the Bootcamp, you will not only be one of the presenters, but you will also have to work creatively with any interested business stakeholder
To apply, simply complete the questionnaire using the link below and submit by January 31, 2024.
Who can Apply?
- Students/Staff in teams/individuals from the participating universities or participating in projects
or programs. - Most importantly is the quality and level of the innovation
Type of Innovation?
- The idea must be innovative and new and offer a solution in the CleanTech sector.
- It should not be just an initial idea, but it should be at minimum Viable Product and/or initial experience
with users/customers. - Our innovation should be geared towards possibly founding a startup with it.
Who Will Participate in the Bootcamp?
- Each university will internally select up to 3 participating innovations from their applications
- 3 persons/ one person representing a team from each of the participating universities in Africa will
participate in the Boot camp. - One mentor for the three teams from each university
- One member from the organizing/planning committee.
Timelines For Innovation Applications:
- Deadline for applications: 31st January 2024
- Feedback to Applicants: 20th February 2024
Schedule During the Bootcamp?
- April 10th: Arrival
- April 11/12th: Workshops
- April 13th: Practice Day
- April 14/15th: Workshops
- April 15th (evening): Public Pitch Event at Kenyatta University
- April 16th: Departure
Cost?
There are no costs for the participants: Startup|Energy covers the costs for travel, accommodation and meals.
What to expect at the bootcamp?
- An opportunity to further develop and sharpen your innovative idea in discussion with other innovators
and entrepreneurs. - Work creatively with the business ideas of other innovators.
- Receive further suggestions and information on the development of their business model and the Clean
Energy market. - Get to know local start-ups in everyday life and discuss with CleanTech organisations/investors.
- At the final Pitch Event on the last evening of the Bootcamp you have the opportunity to present your
idea to a jury of experts, investors and stakeholders. - The winner(s) will receive the Startup|Energy Award.
