Start your career as a teacher at MKU

On 30^th November 2024  and 1^st December 2024 Students will be reporting at Mount Kenya University to start their careers in Teaching under the Distance, Institution-Based and e-Learning  (DIBEL) study mode.

When studying under the DIBeL, student attend face-to-face training during the national academic holidays that is on December, April and August where they undertake a theory classes and practical lessons. When the primary and secondary school reopen, the trainee teachers resume work in their stations and continue teaching as they study using our dedicated online learning systems. Using the e-learning system, they are able to interact with our lecturers on group and individual chats. Students can also hold a class on Microsoft Teams on need basis.

At the beginning of next semester/trimester student are required to first undertake their previous semester examination. This mode allows the teachers to continue working and gain more knowledge and skills.

1. 1. Bachelor of Education (Science) KCSE mean grade of C+ or its equivalent and C+ in two subjects of specialisation  8 semesters,  DIBeL KSh. 36,000 per semester

1. 1. Bachelor of Education (Arts) KCSE mean grade of C+ or its equivalent and C+ in two subjects of specialisation 8 semesters DIBeL KSh. 33,000 per semester

1. 1. B.Ed. in Special Needs Education (Primary Education) KCSE mean grade C+ (plus) Or A mean grade of C (plain) at KCSE and a Diploma in Special Needs Education from a recognized Institution. 8 Semesters DIBeL KSh. 36,000 per semester

1. 1. B.Ed. in Special Needs Education (Secondary Education) in the following specialization areas: • Hearing impairment • Visual impairment • Emotional and Behavioural Disorders • Specific Learning Disabilities • Gifted and Talented • Physical, Neurological and other Health Impairments KCSE mean grade C+ (plus) and C+(Plus) in two teaching subjects Or Mean grade C (plain) at KCSE and a Diploma in Special Needs Education from a recognized Institution. 8 semesters – DIBeL KSh. 36,000 per semester

1. 1. Diploma in Special Needs Education KCSE mean grade of C or its equivalent, and C in two teaching subjects 7 Trimester DIBeL KSh. 27,000 per semester

1. 1.  Bachelor of Education Primary Education KCSE Mean grade of C+(Plus) and above or its equivalent Full time 8 semesters DIBeL KSh. 33,000 per semester

1. 1. Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Studies KCSE mean grade of C+ or its equivalent Full time 8 semesters DIBeL  KSh. 33,000 per semester

1. 1. Diploma in Early Childhood Studies KCSE mean grade of C or its equivalent, or a certificate in ECD from a recognised institution 7 Trimesters DIBeL KSh. 24,000 per trimester
