The recognition opens doors for doctors trained by MKU to work in those foreign nations.
Mount Kenya University’s (MKU’s) Medical School’s degrees are acceptable in the United States (US), Canada and the United Kingdom (UK)!
This follows the April 2025 listing of the MKU Medical School in the World Directory of Medical Schools.
In the list, the US’s Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG)) states: “Graduates of this School are eligible to apply to ECFMG for ECFMG Certification, and for examination…“
Also, as posted on the World Directory of Medical Schools, “..Medical degrees obtained from this medical school are acceptable to the provincial/territorial medical authorities in Canada, and therefore acceptable to all medical organisations in Canada.”
Last year, the United Kingdom’s (UK) General Medical Council (GMC) granted recognition to MKU’s Medical School. The GMC sets standards that doctors and their trainers must meet.
