- Preliminaries
As earlier on introduced, I am Dorcas Owinoh, and I am happy to stand here this morning representing the fast-growing MKU Alumni fraternity.
I bring my greetings from all the MKU Alumni within the network as I also thank my Alma Mater for giving me this opportunity to serve as their Representative during this 25th Graduation Ceremony of Mount Kenya University.
- Progressive and Steady Developments at the MKU’s Alumni Docket
Mr. Chancellor Sir, Ladies and Gentlemen, since 2016 when the Mount Kenya University Council approved the establishment of the MKU Alumni Association, also referred to as MKUAA, a formidable body of men and women has engaged in this fast-growing network of MKU’s Alumni who come from every academic discipline of this University.
All of us as Alumni, solidly united in a common spirit of service to humanity, and recognizing the invaluable role played by our Alma Mater in our academic and professional growth, we are happy to be a part of the MKU Alumni Association; an Association that has so far been formally registered as a Corporate Entity in Kenya, effective January 2024.
On behalf of all Alumni and on my own behalf, I take this opportunity to appreciate the team of the MKU Alumni that diligently followed up on this registration and who are now serving as the MKUAA interim officials. Congratulations to MKUAA fraternity for this milestone!
- A word of Congratulations and Invitation to the Graduands to join the MKU Alumni Association
Mr. Chancellor, Ladies and Gentlemen, allow me to send a word of congratulations to our graduands as I also invite them to join the Mount Kenya University Alumni Association.
Dear Graduands, as you proceed to your new positions within our larger global community, be informed that, there are opportunities waiting for you, but also, there is a conducive environment for you to create your own opportunities of service.
Please note that, I am saying this to you from my own personal experience, as mentioned earlier on.
The knowledge and skills acquired during your training at MKU will be vital source of your strength but you must also be diligent, resilient, and focused. I wish you all the best as I reiterate on the need to have each one of you join the MKU Alumni Association.
- Conclusion and Appreciation to Our Alma Mater
To MKU, our Alma Mater, we are very grateful for the University Management's continued support and guidance to her Alumni. Standing here today and speaking on behalf of the Alumni, we promise our support and our continued dedication to do our best in a positive reciprocity to our Alma Mater’s unwavering kindness and support to the MKU Alumni Association.
Once again, I thank the University for this opportunity accorded to me to serve as the Alumni Representative on this 25th Graduation Ceremony.
Thank you for your audience.
