A newly published collection of universities’ practices across the world on SDGs uptake has been released by NAFSA (April 2024). This new publication, entitled, “Global Goals, Global Education – Advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals” and edited by Jolynn M. Shoemaker and Joanna Regulska, showcases SDGs uptake by different universities across the world, MKU being one of them.
In this publication, its Chapter 3 ( see the attached), on “Strategies for Integrating the SDGs into University Goals and Priorities: The case of Mount Kenya University” is authored by Prof. M. Peter Wanderi and Dr. Judy W. Mwangi of Mount Kenya University. This chapter showcases Mount Kenya University’s grandiose and rather impressive efforts towards “… integrating the SDGs into University Goals and Priorities.”
Currently, Mount Kenya University is the United Nations Academic (UNAI) Hub for SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities. This has been a phenomenal experience for the last 3 years (1st June 2021 to 31st December 2024). Mount Kenya University has also registered for Times Higher Education (THE) SDGs ranking effective 2024 – 2025 period.
The newly released publication is a masterpiece and a “must read” by all scholars, practitioners, administrators and policy makers who are working towards promotion of the SDGs as a priority in the global development ideals as a public good; as candidly described on the attached publication’s back cover.
