Meet Richard Bahati Oduori Mr. Flex 2019/2020

Through hard work, resilience in the face of a demanding course and determination, the medical student has stepped on every rung of his success story to be Mr Flex MKU 2019/2020, Thika Campus. The young man I'm talking about is Richard Bahati Oduori, a student who has defied and redefined the formula of success.

In his bestselling book, renowned Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson, Think Big: Unleashing your potential for Excellence; Dr. Ben says "It does not matter where we come from or what we look like. If we recognize our abilities, are willing to learn and to use what we know in helping others, we will always have a place in the world." And Richard Oduori is reaffirming this words.

Pursuing a Clinical Medicine has been helpful in his weight lifting journey that he started in 2014. "I started weight lifting in December 2014" Richard says. "my course has helped me understand my body functioning, muscle wear and tear, proper nutrition and rest" he adds.

When he is not in lecture halls studying or at the hospital attending to patients, he likes playing football and cooking. His favorite food is Ugali served with Chicken.

But wait, Richard is not just a Medical Student. He is an active Student in University Politics, charity inter alia as he narrates, " I have worked as a bouncer in night clubs, I am a fitness coach, Professional Photographer, Videographer and director in film under my brand ADG Digital Studios. I have also participated and left several charity drives" with a busy academic life one wonders what motivates the new Mr. Flex to keep on keeping on,
"I have been both small and big. Big is better" Richard answers.

With the new office comes great opportunities and responsibilities. Unlike Politicians who load their manifesto with points to deliver none, Mr. Flex had only two goals plans he hopes to implement. " I am working on bringing a morning workout show to a media house from the MKU gymnasium because that facility has made me a champion. I also plan to help those who have weight issues achieve fitness and be proud of their bodies, again, always."

His advice to those aspiring to take up his position, “ Competition is never won on the day of the contest, It is won during your training. If you transform your physique in a certain way, out-train and out-diet your competitors, none of them will be beat you”

Richard Oduori 's story validates Jack Welch's immortal words that “Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” and Mr Flex MKU 2019/2020 is embarking on that journey of helping those with the same aspirations to achieve their dreams in his new office.
