Rwanda's High Commissioner to Kenya, His Excellency George William Kayonga officially opened the new students’ hostel at Mount Kenya University. The ultra-modern Sh320millionfacilityhasacapacityto accommodate 1,000 students. The High Commissioner said his country was encouraging Kenyan investors in higher education to establish learning institutions in Rwanda to help build its labor force. He commended MKU for opening a campus in Kigali. The envoy said emphasis was previously put on primary and secondary education, but more attention is now being given to tertiary institutions through the Rwandan Development Board. "That is why we have licensed Mount Kenya University to establish a campus in Kigali and this is just the beginning." The envoy noted that while science, research and technology were of priority, vocational training was equally necessary in steering the country to greater economic achievements. "I commend MKU for offering learning opportunities and creating jobs beyond Kenya, “said the envoy. |
