Diploma in Animal Health and Production

Introduction

The Diploma in Animal Health and Production is broad based, taking foundations in biology, physical and agricultural sciences; with professional skills in animal production and Health. This is necessary in view of the fact that as the country continues to develop, specialized manpower is required in the extension services, public agricultural institutions, private sector and non-governmental organizations. Graduates of this programme should be able to pursue further training in specialized areas of animal science.

Objectives of the Programmes

  • To provide increased training opportunities to enable the trainee to be self supporting.
  • To provide practical skills and attitudes which will lead to income generating activities in the urban and rural areas through self-employment or wage employment.
  • To provide practical education and training skills which are responsive and relevant to Kenya's agricultural, industrial, commercial and economic needs.
  • To encourage self employment while at the same time producing skilled technicians and technologists for both formal ad informal sectors.

Admission requirements

  • KCSE mean grade of C with C in biology or Certificate in Animal Health plus C minus or equivalent

Award of Certificate

A candidate who satisfy the Board of examiners in all the examinations and other course requirement shall, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners and approval of the Academic Board be awarded the Diploma in Animal Health and Production as provided by the Certificate of Validation of the Animal Health and Production programme by the Commission for Higher Education.
