Introduction

At the end of the course the trainee should be able to: -

  1. Have acquired knowledge skills in handling milk from production, processing to marketing
  2. Demonstrate skills the policy environment for the benefit of the dairy industry
  3. Have acquired knowledge and skills to be capable of adaptation and hybridization of new technologies in dairy engineering
  4. Have acquired skills in livestock reproduction, breeding and general livestock management
  5. Demonstrate skill in formulation of ratios production, conservation and utilization of livestock feeds
  6. Have acquired knowledge and skills in farm management to be able to work in any agribusiness and develop a positive attitude towards self employment
  7. Have acquired knowledge to understand the dynamic cultural, social, economic environment under which dairy industry operates.
  8. Develop attitude and skills to effectively communicate to the farming community of the innovations and technologies.
  9. Have acquired technical knowledge and skills in managing a diary herd
  10. Have acquired knowledge and positive attitude towards environmental protection and conservation .

Entry requirement

Trainees entering this course should have any of the following qualifications:

  1. KCSE Mean Grade of C- with D+ in English / Kiswahili, D+ in Mathematics / Physics, C- in Biology / Biological Sciences, C- in Chemistry / Physical Scences, C- in Agriculture
  2. Division II
  3. A holder of a Certificate in Dairy Technology

Award of Certificate

A candidate who satisfy the Board of examiners in all the examinations and other course requirement shall, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners and approval of the Academic Board be awarded the Certificate In DAIRY Production
