Mr and Miss MKU - Rwanda 2014

Patrick Muwanga and Francine Uwase are the new Mr and Miss MKU-Kigali Campus. The two were crowned during a high profile event held at Gikondo Expo Grounds, Kigali, last Saturday.
Patrick, 23, is a third year student in Information, Communication Technology, while Francine, 20, is a third year student in Commerce.
The duo won USD 1,000 and ipads from MKU Board of Trustees office, tuition fees for two semesters courtesy of the office of the Principal, MKU-Kigali Campus, and return air tickets to Nairobi courtesy of Rwandair.
The two also received a complimentary one-year access to Sulfo Rwanda products.  “This is a great day for me,” said an elated Patrick. “My immediate responsibility will be working with others to represent MKU in different capacities and also work with fellow students to ensure there are no gaps between students and lecturers.”
The high-octane event was preceded by the launch of the MKU Royal FM and the Institute of Capacity Building-Rwanda Chapter earlier in the day. It was graced by MKU Board of Trustees Chairman Simon Gicharu. Famous East African pop musicians Dr Jose Chameleone, Riderman and Knowles were also in attendance. 
Patrick and Francine took the Mr and Miss MKU crowns from Jane Kayitesi and Patrice Baraka. The first runners-up were Lillian Umubera and Ernest Mugiza. They received 450,000RFW (Ksh60,000) from Hunters Displays.
The Mr and Miss Creativity crowns went to Noel Kamanzi and May Rose Tumimbag. They received 200,000RFW (Ksh25,000) from Inyange Industries, and a gift pack from Sulfo Rwanda. They will also have free access to Sulfo Rwanda’s products for two months.
Anorld Mutabazi and Lucy Kuria were named Mr and Miss Popularity, while Victor Iryayo and Alice Malonga took away the Mr and Miss Photogenic titles. They received goodies from Sulfo Rwanda.
Humprey Mutegi, Associate Dean of Students said this year’s event was the best the Campus has ever organized. “This was a perfect forum to expose our students to a test of confidence, a blend of beauty and brains. I wish to congratulate all our students for the way they contributed in making the event a success.”
