Bachelor of Business Information Technology (BBIT)
INTRODUCTION
Business Information Technology is changing continuously and rapidly. Globalization and liberalization are radically reshaping technologically the business information development practices. The Business Information Technology degree programme shall provide an interdisciplinary approach for training business information technology professionals who need working competency in all sectors of the economy. The programmes will therefore provide business information graduates with a real world technological experience that will prepare them into the fields of business and information technology for the economic growth and prosperity of Kenya, region and world at large.
Rationale The programme has been designed to recognize that its graduates will a) Have strong business orientation and technological knowledge in order to provide information that will
- Enable successful performance in organization
- Integrate all business organizational levels and functions
- Strategize business organizational systems.

- Solve technological problems in business information systems
- Apply perspective and prospective business and technological concepts and data
- Conceptualize and systemize people, procedures, hardware, software and data in business entities.

- Acquiring, processing, disseminating and storing business information.
- Modeling business organizational processes, defining and implementing them.
- Helping staff, sections and department to attain their goals in business entities.
Minimum Entry Requirements
The following are the minimum requirements for registration into BIT degree programme;
Direct Entry
i) KCSE or equivalent certificate with a minimum of C+ and grade C (plain) in both mathematics and English or similar grades in an equivalent examination approved by the University Senate in liaison with CHE. or ii) KACE or equivalent Certificate with a minimum of the principal passes and O level Credit in Mathematics and English Language. or iii) Diploma in relevant disciplines in the field of business and information technology from an institution recognized by the university senate in liaison with CHE.
Entry Vide University Bridging
i) A holder of KCSE certificate or equivalent with a minimum of C+ and lacking clusters subjects, Mathematics and English language as in (i) above. The candidate must score at least a C plain in the subject he is bridging in as in 6.1.1 (i) above ii) A holder of KACE certificate or equivalent with minimum of two principal passes and lacking O level cluster subject grades as in 6.1.1.(ii) above. The candidate must score a credit in the subject in which he/she is bridging in as in 6.1.1.(ii).
Entry Vide Pre-university Programme
vi) A holder of KCSE certificate or equivalent with a mean aggregate of C(plain) with C (plain) in Mathematic and English
