Introduction

The Dental Technology Profession is founded on the belief that oral health care is a prerequisite for client's good Health, self-esteem and social well being.

The client is indeed an important stakeholder in the provision of oral health care hence quality care should be planned and provided.

The Dental Technologist is a key player in the oral health care team. He or She belongs to a cadre of health professionals who actualizes this belief in an effort to promote good health through provision of preventive and rehabilitative oral health care to ensure the client optimizes the oral functions for his/ her social well being.

Programme Objectives

The programme should prepare the students to: -

  • Evaluate, Design, fabricate and fit dental prostheses and appliance accurately
  • Use the wide range of techniques, materials and equipment utilized in dental technology.
  • Handle materials and equipment safely.
  • Perform managerial duties of a dental laboratory.

Entry Requirements

The candidate for the course must meet the following criteria for admission: -

A Mean grade of at least C (Plain) at Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (K.C.S.E) level or its equivalent.

  • C (Plain) in English
  • C in Mathematics or Physical Science or Physics
  • C- in any one of the following: -

Biology, Metal Work, Mathematics, Chemistry, General Science.

Award of Degree

A candidate who satisfy the Board of examiners in all the examinations and other course requirement shall, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners and approval of the Senate be awarded the Diploma in Dental Technology
