Introduction

This course is intended to equip trainees with knowledge and skills necessary to support the work of professionals in medical related laboratories.

Rationale

This course prepares trainees for gainful employment in laboratories in the Medical Biomedical, Research Institutions and specialized industries.

Aims and Objectives of the Course

By the end of the course, trainee should be able to:

  • Understand various techniques applied in the Medical and Biomedical laboratories
  • Practice safety precautions in a medical laboratory with regards to personnel and equipment
  • Select, set up and operate various laboratory equipments for a given task.
  • Follow proper procedure to obtain correct results
  • Use acquired knowledge and skills in problem solving and self-reliance in the profession.
  • Strictly observe the professional code of conduct.

Mean grade of C-

Trainees should have the following Mean grades in the following subjects:

    English C-
    Biology
    C-
    Chemistry C-
    Mathematics D+
    Physics D+

Award of Certificate

A candidate who satisfy the Board of examiners in all the examinations and other course requirement shall, on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners be awarded a Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology
