One of a kind digital bus unveiled
Mount Kenya University has unveiled a one of a kind “digital bus” that will revolutionize student transport in Kenya.
The 62-seater bus, acquired a cost of Ksh15 million, is fitted with high speed wireless internet, secondary charging ports for digital devices and interconnected TV screens to enable students carry on their studies “on the go.”
While commissioning the bus at Thika Main Campus today, the university Vice-Chancellor Prof. Stanley Waudo said MKU is a pace setter in delivery of quality education programmes and this is a bold step towards embracing online learning. “In future, the number of students applying for online courses will be at par with those who physically attend classes,” he said. “We want to ensure our students are well-entertained and informed especially while commuting to and from academic trips.”
Student Council President Simon Kimani thanked the university chairman Dr. Simon Gicharu for continuous commitment to improving the infrastructure, which has created a conducive learning environment.
