Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management

BRIEF HISTORY
The department of Hospitality and Tourism started way back in 2004. The department had handful students with just few programmes. To date the department has grown tremendously with over 750 students and 11 full-time lecturers.

The number of programs has also grown to the current 7 programmes.

The department has state of the art facilities, 2 training restaurants, 2 demonstration kitchen, 21 training rooms and a fully equipped laundry section. To this end the department has continued to offer quality training to all our students. We have compulsory attachment/internship, whereby the department source and place student: this is the cutting edge.

VISION
To be practically oriented department in the transition of knowledge-based and service-oriented training for hospitality and tourism sectors.

MISSION
To enhance development of the human resource in hospitality and tourism in the provision of quality education, training, innovation and research.

Masters of Science in Hospitality Management

Holders of Bachelors degree, 2nd class honours (Upper division)

or equivalent qualification recognized by the Senate of  Kenya University.

                                                                                            

Course work and project;

Kshs. 45,000 per session for 6 sessions.

Bachelor of Science in Travel and
Tourism Management  (BSc. TTM)

KCSE with an average grade C+ or its equivalent plus grade C plain in at least 3 of the following subjects: Biology/chemistry, English/kiswahili, Homescience and Humanities.
Or A diploma in a relevant area with at least C plain at KCSE.
8 semester Ksh. 65,000 per semester

(Thika ,Nairobi & Kigali campus)

Bachelors of Science in Hospitality Management (BSc. HM)

KCSE with an average grade C+ (C Plus) or its  equivalent.
Or
A diploma in a relevant area with at least C plain at KCSE.

8 semesters (Regular) Kshs. 65,000 per Semester.

Diploma in Travel and Tourism Management

KCSE certificate with a minimum of grade C (Plain) or equivalent qualification recognized by University Senate.
Or Holders of C-(minus) and a certificate with at least a credit pass in relevant field.

Diploma in Hospitality Management

Minimum requirement K.C.S.E C with C plain

or

Certificate in Hospitality Management from a recognized institution.
