Course rationale
The Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology training is to provide a strong foundation for Information professionals competent in health records management and health research.

Why Study the Programme
The diploma in Health Records and Information Technology In Mount Kenya University is designed to equip the students with the knowledge, skills and attitude to enable them harness and implement clinical skills, conduct research and be able to advance academically in order to provide and improve the health delivery from the rural health facilities all the way to the National and International level

Target Groups
KCSE Holders or other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Senate

Programme Objectives
By the end of the programme, the learners will have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills that will enable the learners to:-

  1. To equip students with both theoretical and practical knowledge and skills pertaining to clinical practice
  2. To produce graduates who can apply effectively and efficiently the acquired knowledge, skills and abilities in maintaining and securing patients health records.
  3. To prepare students for progression to higher level of studies in their fields of specialization

Entry Requirements
At least KCSE mean grade C (plain) with C- (minus) in Mathematics or Physics, C (plain) in Biology, C- (minus) in English/Kiswahili, or Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology
