The study of economics and statistics is important in data analysis, investment decision making, forecasting, risks and uncertainty assessment of the markets. The information gathered by these activities is crucial for the management of the economy. Graduates from this programme will be able to work in various fields including data analysis, economic planning, investment, trade, economic forecasting and decision making in both the public and private sector.

Currently there is high demand for graduates in economics and statistics from both the public and private sectors. This is due to changes in global economic and business trends, the invent of the county government which requires enormous data for decision making, policy formulation and management. The economics and statistics course is therefore proposed to meet the needs of the market
Upon successful completion of the prescribed course of study for Bachelor of Economics and Statistics , graduates will have acquired knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to:
a. Conduct research
b. Plan and manage Projects
c. Monitor and evaluate policies
d. Use the data for economic and business forecasting
e. Participate in community service and related fields
- KCSE or equivalent certificate with a minimum of C+ and grade C+ (plus) in both Mathematics and English or similar grades in an equivalent examination approved by the University Senate. Or.
- KACE or equivalent Certificate with a minimum of 2 principles passes and O level Credit in Mathematics and English Language. Or
- Diploma in relevant disciplines with a minimum of C plain at KCSE from an institution recognized by the University Senate.
