David Kihara - Head of Department, LanguagesThe Department of Languages is housed in the School of Social Sciences which was curved out of the former larger School of Applied Social Sciences in September 2010. It is made up of subject areas of English Language and Linguistics, Literature, Kiswahili and Foreign Languages (Arabic, French etc) that are coordinated by Coordinators who are experts in the respective subjects. It has many qualified and experienced staff members both Permanent and Associate Faculty who teach and guide the students. The Department also runs Mentorship, Academic Advisory and Quality Assurance and Standards programmes which are handled by well trained personnel.

To promote language performance both spoken and written for effective communication in all arena of life endeavors.

To enhance education through proper communicative strategies and promote citizenry harmonious co-existence by offering effective linguistic skills.
